Who's helping you to feel good in your life?

When you feel good you look good. Continually feeling good creates overall health. Feeling good motivates you to take care of yourself. Feeling good is a sign of a balanced body and mind.

Feeling good informs your choices. Feeling good influences behavior. Feeling good is expressed to all when you enter a room. It lights up your smile. Its power is felt by everyone around you. Over time, feeling good evolves into feeling great!

So why don't the majority of us feel good.

Here's why: Each of us has spent a significant amount of our lifetime storing and accumulating tension as a result of stress.

Tension limits range of motion, closes down the body, drains daily energy, clouds thinking, limits performance and prevents overall balance.

Exposure to internal tension day after day becomes discomfort, aches, pains, movement compensation, dysfunction and ultimately, disease.

Add to this constant worry created by economic stress and personal pressure and what you have is a body and mind constantly in flight or fight.

You may say to me, "I don't feel any tension."

That's because over time your body learned to adapt to this state of being.

Adaptation to stress is occurring all the time. Its effect is so subtle you never even know its happening until its too late. You finally pay attention when pain occurs. The usual method to address pain is to take a pill then its back to business as usual. However, this method never addresses the actual problem.

Instead you are guaranteeing the continuation of the Lifetime Stress Cycle for the cause has not been addressed.

My experience has been that EVERYONE is holding unnecessary tension in the body.

Here's why: Most of your life has been spent paying attention to the world outside of yourself via constantly thinking, planning, strategizing, detailing, describing and defining all the details of your life. This means that the majority of your life has been spent in your head.

While you've been living in your head your body has been leaderless. On its own the body will do whatever it has to do to maintain function.

Your body's inner adaptive voice says:

"Stress day in and day out? Okay! I'll prepare for that. How? I know! I'll maintain a certain amount of internal tension in anticipation of tomorrow's stress. And each day I experience stress I'll store more and more tension because whenever I practice I get better. Over time I'll never really let go because I know I have to work tomorrow and the next day and the next day. I will continually adapt by storing more and more tension because that's what's being asked of me."

When I work on a person there are ALWAYS deep levels of tension the body has gotten accustomed to holding as "normal". That's why you don't feel it. It's because you've been treating it as normal.

Here's a defining question: After a full day's worth of stressful work and life, how much time do you and have you spent on actively relaxing your body? That is, have you spent any time purposefully letting go of the residual tension your body stored as a result of your day?

If you're like most, the answer is probably little to none.

It doesn't have to be this way.
